About Troop 3
Troop 3 is the oldest, continuosly run Boy Scout Troop on Long Island. We were first chartered in September of 1910 as BSA Troop 1 Smithtown, New York.
Troop 3 is sponsored by American Legion Post 833 JAMES ELY MILLER
Our troop meetings are held every Tuesday evening from 7:30pm to 8:30pm at:
Forest Brook Elementary School
299 Lilac Ln., Smithtown, NY 11787

We are part of the Boy Scouts of America. Locally, we are part of the Suffolk Council and the Matinecock District.
- Weekly meetings September thru June
- Outdoor activity - once per month
- Summer camp - one week each summer
- High Adventure Trips
- Participate in Matinecock District Polar Bear
- Court of Honor ceremonies 4 times per year
- Annual Flower Sales
- Troop committee monthly meetings - every 1st Thursday
- Scouting for Food
- Service projects
- Firearms Safety

Permit holders for the 2013/2014 school year will be required to print out a copy of the
Hauppauge Schools: Code of Conduct.
Permit holders will need to understand all those participating in your organization’s event(s) need to abide by the Code of Conduct. Please understand that the terms and conditions of the Code of Conduct extends to: leaders, direct participants, siblings, spectators, parents, venders and staff.
Groups need to be sure; your organization membership is familiar with the Code of Conduct. When possible please add Code of Conduct notice to your registration forms and post a link to the Hauppauge Schools website, Code of Conduct
Groups with need to complete an acknowledgement form and return it to my office.
